How to Clean Silver, Gold, and Brass Jewelry

What do you do when your favorite silver chain has blackened, the brass ring has lost its luster, or the gold bracelet has become dirty? do not worry! With a few simple tips you can clean your jewelry and make it shine like new.

Silver cleaning:

  • Baking soda: mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda with a glass of hot water, soak the jewelry in water for 10-15 minutes, brush lightly with a soft toothbrush, rinse well and dry with a soft cloth.
Toothpaste: Apply some toothpaste on a soft toothbrush, gently brush over the jewelry, rinse well and dry.
  • Lemon juice: squeeze half a lemon into a glass of hot water, soak the jewelry in the juice for 5 minutes, brush lightly, rinse well and dry.

please:

  • Vinegar: In a small vessel, mix together 1/2 cup of vinegar, 1 teaspoon of salt and a little flour until a paste is obtained. Apply the mixture to the jewelry, wait 10 minutes, rinse with lukewarm water and wipe dry.
  • Ketchup: Apply ketchup (yes, yes!) to the jewelry, leave for 15 minutes, rinse well and dry.
  • Baking soda: mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda with a little water until they become a thick paste, apply to the jewelry, brush lightly, rinse well and dry.

gold:

  • Dish soap: mix a few drops of dish soap with warm water, soak the jewelry for 5 minutes, brush lightly with a soft toothbrush, rinse well and dry.
  • Gold-plated jewelry: use a soft, dry cloth, avoid strong substances and brushes that may damage the plating.

General tips:

  • Remove jewelry before sleeping, exercising and before contact with chemical substances.
  • Store jewelry separately, in boxes or soft bags, to prevent scratches.
  • Clean jewelry regularly.
  • For severely tarnished or damaged jewelry, contact a professional jeweler.

And now, give your jewelry some love and attention, and it will return the bling!
